ATTORNEY (PROGRAM) I

Exempt (Non-Civil Service) Appointment

Salary: The starting salary may be between the minimum salary rate of $5,282 monthly / $63,384 annually and maximum salary rate of $7,519 monthly / $90,228 annually, as determined by the hiring authority based on qualifications.

Location: Third Circuit Court, Office of the Chief Court Administrator, Hilo/Kona*, Hawai`i

*As the Third Circuit includes major courthouses and operations in both Hilo and Kona, this position may be located in either location with occasional travel between sites, as determined by the Chief Court Administrator of the Third Circuit.

Summary of Duties: This position provides legal advice, guidance, and technical staff support services to the Chief Court Administrator, Chief Judge, Judges, and administrators; and provides legal representation regarding Third Circuit matters. This position may also assist with handling mortgage foreclosure and other specific case types under the Third Circuit’s jurisdiction; and provides professional staff specialist services to the Chief Court Administrator which supports the initiatives of the Judiciary, the Third Circuit’s court operations, and programs; and performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements: An active license to practice law in all courts of the State of Hawai`i, and a current and valid driver’s license to drive to various locations to attend meetings and other Third Circuit business-related matters.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Applicants must be citizens, permanent resident aliens or nationals of the United States, or non-citizens with unrestricted employment authorization from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

All applicants shall become residents of the State within thirty (30) days after beginning their employment and as a condition of eligibility for continued employment.
