About the Firm Foster Graham Milstein & Calisher, LLP (FGMC) is a well-established law firm with a large civil litigation practice. We are expanding into the Los Angeles market and seeking talented attorneys to join our growing California practice. The Opportunity FGMC is seeking an associate attorney with 2- 4 or more years of California civil litigation experience to join our expanding office in Woodland Hills. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing California practice group from the ground level, with tremendous room for professional development, increased responsibility, and career advancement.
Our civil litigation practice focuses on insurance defense, including premises liability, habitability claims, slip-and-fall, trip-and-fall, landlord-tenant disputes, and general negligence. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of case preparation, planning, management, and trial, including taking and defending depositions, motions practice, and appearing in court. Candidates with strong litigation fundamentals and a desire to grow their practice are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications Required:
Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
2 - 4 years of civil litigation experience
Strong written and oral advocacy skills
Demonstrated ability to manage cases from inception through resolution
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a litigation team
Familiarity with California state and federal court rules and procedures
Preferred:
Experience in insurance defense litigation, premises liability, or general negligence
Deposition and courtroom experience
Experience with e-discovery platforms such as Everlaw or similar tools
Work Arrangement This position is based in FGMC’s Woodland Hills (Los Angeles) office. As part of a new and growing team, initial in-person attendance is expected to build strong working relationships and team cohesion. There is potential for schedule flexibility as the practice develops.
Compensation The good-faith estimated salary range for this position upon hire is $120,000 – $150,000 annually, depending on the candidate’s skills, training, qualifications, and experience. This range reflects what the firm reasonably expects to pay at the time of hire. In addition to base salary, associate attorneys are eligible for client-origination and performancebased productivity bonuses.
